Apartment Hunting

Apartment hunting really sucks. We found the perfect place the other day only to find out it was already taken. Most of the apartments in Corvallis are either super nasty and cost a fortune or are fairly nice but only have 2 bedrooms or more and cost a fortune (thinking that you'll get roommates). We just want a one bedroom that doesn't look like a frat party took place in it for the past year and is a decent price. Is that so much to ask? Apparently so in a college town. Sigh. We tried to get a hold of two places on Monday but nobody answered their phones, even though the ads said the phones were open during the times we called. Multiple calls and no answer...seems like poor management to me. I'm trying not to be picky but it'd be nice to know that when you need the manager you can get a hold of them. And a clean, safe apartment would be nice too ;-)
